India

Richa Ghosh, one of the stars from India's World Cup-winning cricket team, just got appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the West Bengal government.
At only 22, she joins a select group of cricketers across India who've landed big police roles.

Richa honored at Eden Gardens

Saturday was extra special for Richa—she was celebrated at Eden Gardens by the Cricket Association of Bengal.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee handed her the Banga Bhushan medal, a gold chain, and her official DSP appointment letter. She also received a golden bat and ball plus ₹34 lakh for her World Cup heroics.
Even legends like Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami were there, with Ganguly emphasizing how Richa's strike rate made the difference for India's campaign in the World Cup.
