YouTuber Elvish Yadav's snake venom case: UP government opposes bail

India

YouTuber Elvish Yadav is in serious legal trouble after being accused of being involved in a scheme to use snake venom as a party drug at illegal events in Noida.
The Uttar Pradesh government has told the Supreme Court the charges are "serious" and should not be dropped.
Yadav was arrested in March 2024 and faces multiple charges, including wildlife crimes, drug offenses, and criminal conspiracy.
Authorities have filed a massive 1,200-page chargesheet detailing suspected exotic snake smuggling, the use of venom at parties, and the involvement of foreign nationals.

Evidence against Yadav

Investigators claim they have confessions, forensic reports, intercepted calls, and digital surveillance tying Yadav to the case—even if he wasn't physically present at the parties.
His lawyers argue police didn't follow proper procedures under wildlife law, but officials insist that strong evidence backs up their case.
On top of all this, the Enforcement Directorate is also investigating him for money laundering, saying some of his video earnings went into buying property.
Both criminal and financial probes are moving forward together.
