What's the story

A major fire broke out in the huts of Dharavi, Mumbai, on Saturday afternoon. The blaze was reported near the Harbour line local train tracks and was first noticed at 12:30pm. Firefighting operations were immediately launched, with at least four fire engines and other vehicles rushing to the spot. Due to the proximity of the fire to the railway tracks, local train services between Bandra and Mahim on the Harbour line were temporarily suspended.

Safety precaution

Electric supply disconnected as safety measure

A Western Railway spokesperson said, "The electric supply to overhead equipment has been disconnected as a safety measure due to the fire incident in the shanties adjacent to Up Harbour line on the east side between Mahim and Bandra at around 12:15pm. The spokesperson also assured that there was no risk to passengers or trains, as they have been regulated away from the site.
