Lok Sabha adjourned till 2pm amid opposition uproar over SIR
What's the story
The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2:00pm after opposition MPs raised slogans against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The winter session of Parliament, which began on Monday, will continue until December 19. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the schedule for this session. The 2025 winter session is the shortest under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.

Opposition MPs demand discussion on SIR exercise
Opposition MPs, including those from the Congress party, have demanded a discussion on the "grave crisis" created by the SIR exercise. Congress leader KC Venugopal moved an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha over this issue. He highlighted that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are under extreme pressure due to this exercise and have even died while working.

Government outlines agenda for winter session
The government has listed 13 bills for consideration during this winter session, most of which haven't been examined by a Standing Committee. Private Members's Bills will be considered on December 5 and 19, while Private Members's resolutions will be taken up on December 12. The session is expected to have 15 sittings over 19 days.
