Amateur astrophotographer Noah Gyles captures Lagoon Nebula revealing hydrogen gas
Technology
Noah Gyles, an amateur astrophotographer, captured the Lagoon Nebula in July 2025, an enormous star nursery 5,200 light-years away in Sagittarius.
Using a telescope and special filters, his image reveals glowing hydrogen gas and intricate dust patterns lit up by young stars.
Noah Gyles stacked 60 exposures
Gyles stacked 60 5-minute exposures for over 6 hours of data, amazed by the clarity he achieved.
If you want to see the nebula yourself, look near the "Teapot" shape in Sagittarius this August; binoculars or a small telescope will show much more detail than your eyes alone.
