Amazon drops new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and Scribe—here's what's up

Amazon is rolling out two fresh Kindles on December 10: the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft ($629.99) and the regular Scribe ($499.99).
No need to wait or preorder—these will be available right away, as Amazon spokesperson Rachel Erickson shared with The Verge.

What's new and what's next?

Both models feature a roomy 11-inch screen, are super slim at just 5.4mm, and weigh about 400gm—easy to toss in your bag.
They've got texture-molded glass for a more natural writing feel, plus a redesigned pen that snaps on securely with stronger magnets.
If you're looking for something more affordable, Amazon has a budget-friendly Scribe coming in 2026 for $429.99 (though it'll skip the front light).
