Amazon raises Echo Dot, Kindle, Echo Show, Fire TV prices
Amazon just bumped up prices on some of its most popular gadgets: think Echo Dot (5th Gen), Kindle (16GB), Echo Show 21, and Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
The increases are pretty steep, ranging from 25% to a whopping 60%.
If you're eyeing these devices, the new prices kicked in late last week.
Amazon cites AI driven chip costs
Amazon says the price jump is all about rising costs for memory and storage chips, thanks to a chip shortage fueled by high demand from AI.
Kristy Schmidt, senior communications manager of Amazon's Devices & Services division, shared that "the consumer electronics industry is facing significant increases in memory and storage component costs."
Apple and Microsoft have also raised prices this year. Microsoft for similar reasons, so expect tech gear to stay pricey until at least 2028.
