Android may get tap to share via Quick Share
Technology
Android may soon get a "Tap to Share" feature that lets you share files just by tapping two devices together: think AirDrop, but for Android.
It first popped up in Samsung's One UI 8.5 and is back in One UI 9, using NFC to kick off transfers through Samsung's Quick Share.
Some Pixels have Tap to Share
The feature may arrive for more users with the big Android 17 update, making easy file sharing possible across different brands.
Some Google Pixel phones already have it thanks to recent updates.
If you want to share with Apple devices, just tweak your Quick Share settings and enable "Share with Apple devices" for compatibility with AirDrop; pretty handy if you're always swapping files between friends on different phones.
