What's the story

Apple has introduced its latest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 10, at the "It's Glowtime" event. This launch comes nearly a decade after the tech giant introduced its first wearable device. The new model features significant design changes including a larger screen and slimmer body. It also offers sleep apnea detection. Apple Watch Series 10 starts at ₹46,900, and its pre-orders are now open.

Design upgrades

Enhanced display and design

The Apple Watch Series 10 boasts a screen that is "up to 30%" larger than its predecessors, protected by durable onyx glass. The body of the watch is notably slimmer, being almost 10% thinner than the Series 9 at just 9.6mm. The device features an OLED that provides viewing angles wider by 40% compared to its predecessor.

Tech advancements

Improved audio and charging capabilities

The Series 10 smartwatch has an upgraded speaker, allowing users to play music and podcasts directly on the device without needing AirPods. It also introduces a new charging coil that can power up the watch to 80% in just half an hour. Despite these enhancements, Apple maintains its promise of delivering 18 hours of battery life on a full charge.

Health monitoring

New health features and water activity tracking

The Apple Watch Series 10 is the first in its line to potentially detect sleep apnea, a feature that is awaiting FDA approval. It uses the watch's accelerometer to find disturbances in sleep. The device also includes a depth sensor for water-based activities like snorkeling. A new Tides app has been added specifically for surfers and similar users.

Performance

Advanced processing and translation features

The Series 10 is powered by a new S10 chip, enabling advanced neural processing to enhance sound with the on-board microphone. This upgrade also brings translation capabilities to the device, a feature that could be particularly useful for travelers. The watch will run on watchOS 11, which brings the ability to pause and further customize Rings and Activity goals, as well as a new Vitals app.

Body

It has a titanium body

The new model introduces a titanium body, replacing stainless steel to make the watch even lighter. In line with Apple's environmental commitments, the Series 10 is the company's latest carbon-neutral device as per the firm's announcement.
