Christina Koch to become 1st woman on Artemis II flyby
NASA astronaut Christina Koch is set to become the first woman ever to travel to the moon, joining the Artemis II crew for a lunar flyby nearly 400,000km from Earth.
She'll be flying alongside commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, and fellow mission specialist Jeremy Hansen in this major step forward for lunar exploration.
Christina Koch veteran engineer 328-day record
Koch isn't new to breaking records: She spent 328 days in space (the longest single spaceflight by a woman) and took part in the first all-female spacewalk.
As a seasoned engineer and physicist with tons of experience in tough environments, she's ready to oversee Orion's complex systems on this mission.
Her journey is another big move toward making space more inclusive and inspiring future scientists and engineers.
