Cristiano Amon says AI agents will transform smartphone app use
Qualcomm's CEO, Cristiano Amon, thinks artificial intelligence is about to totally change how we use our phones.
Instead of jumping between apps, he sees smart "agents" handling things for us, like instantly retrieving banking transactions without you even opening an app.
As Amon puts it, "Apps are not dead," Amon said, "but apps are going to change. Those agents are going to be the new app." and these AI agents could become the new way we get things done.
Qualcomm redesigning chips for AI wearables
Amon also believes smart glasses might soon be as popular as smartphones, with companies like Meta and Samsung developing smart glasses and shipments of smart glasses already in the tens of millions annually.
To keep up, Qualcomm is redesigning its chips for energy-efficient AI wearables.
According to Amon, we're in an "early internet" moment for AI hardware: no clear winner yet, but big shifts are definitely coming.
