The company was founded in 1985 by Irwin Jacobs and former Linkabit employees as a contract research and development center for government and defence projects. It manufactures system-on-chips (mobile processors) under the ‘Snapdragon’ name and has launched a mobile, ‘Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders’ in 2021.
