December's 'Cold Moon' is 2025's final supermoon
Technology
The last supermoon of the year—called the Cold Moon—peaks on December 4 at 23:14 GMT.
Expect it to shine up to 30% brighter and look a bit bigger than your usual full moon.
You'll have a chance to catch it from December 3-5.
Where and when should you watch?
If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, look east just after moonrise on December 4 for the best view. Southern Hemisphere folks will see it lower in the sky.
Rooftops, parks, beaches, or any spot with a clear eastern horizon and minimal city lights are perfect for moon gazing.
Tips for seeing (and snapping) the Cold Moon
No telescope needed—just step outside and enjoy!
For cool photos, try your phone's night or moon mode. Binoculars can help if you want to check out lunar details up close.
Miss this one? The next supermoon won't show up until January 3, 2026.
