Geminids meteor shower: When, where, and how to watch it

Technology

Get ready for one of the year's best sky shows—the Geminids meteor shower is peaking overnight on December 13-14.
Caused by debris from asteroid 3200 Phaethon, this event can light up dark skies with up to 120 meteors per hour across the Northern Hemisphere, including India.

How and when to catch the show

Your best bet is between midnight and 4:00am (with a sweet spot around 2:00am) when Gemini is high in the eastern sky.
Find a spot away from city lights—think rural fields or hills near cities like Delhi, Mumbai, or Bengaluru.
Let your eyes adjust for 20-30 minutes, ditch your phone screens, bundle up, and just look up—no telescope needed!
