Google Chat gets easier to access and lets you schedule messages

Technology

Google Chat is getting two handy updates: the web address is moving from mail.google.com/chat to the simpler chat.google.com, so it's quicker to reach and loads faster.
Your old bookmarks will still work, but you might need to update any browser extensions for everything to run smoothly.

Schedule send arrives, plus rollout details

You can now schedule messages in advance—just like in Gmail—using a new Drafts shortcut that pops up in the sidebar when you have scheduled chats.
Edit, reschedule, or cancel messages as needed.
These features are rolling out now for Workspace users on rapid release domains (over about 15 days), with everyone else getting them from January 2, 2026.
