Google Messages is making dual-SIM switching easier for RCS chats

Technology

Google is testing a new "Switch SIM" shortcut in its Messages app, aiming to make life simpler for people using two SIMs with RCS chats.
Instead of digging through settings, you'll soon be able to long-press in the message compose field and pick your SIM right from the chat menu—no more jumping back and forth.

Quick access returns after earlier changes

Earlier this year, Google had tucked away the SIM switcher in the contact profile details page, which made swapping SIMs a hassle.
This new shortcut brings back some much-needed convenience by taking you to the SIM picker in the profile details page, after which you can return to the chat.
It's not perfect yet, but it's definitely a smoother experience for anyone juggling two numbers.

Where it's available and what's next

Dual-SIM RCS support started rolling out last November on carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, and Visible, then expanded to Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones in the US, Canada, and Germany.
The "Switch SIM" feature is still in beta—so expect more tweaks before everyone gets it.
