Google Vids update adds text prompts to direct animated avatars
Google's Vids app just got a cool upgrade: you can now direct animated avatars using simple text prompts.
Avatars can interact with products, props, or equipment in your scenes and stay true to their personalities.
Plus, you get to tweak their outfits, looks, and backgrounds to match your video's vibe.
Google Vids adds Veo 3.1 clips
The update also brings Veo 3.1 support for making quick eight-second clips right inside the app.
You can export videos straight to YouTube — they're private by default if you want a sneak peek before sharing.
There's even a new Chrome extension so you can record your screen with audio or video, making it easier than ever to create content on the fly.
Google offers 10 free Veo videos
Google is giving everyone 10 free Veo-generated videos per month (up to 1,000 if you have an AI Ultra account).
The app keeps getting smarter too — it recently added music and sound effects with Lyria models, plus more voice-over languages since launching in 2024.
