IIT Delhi's new detergents help keep mosquitoes away (and your clothes clean)

Technology

IIT Delhi has come up with a cool solution to fight mosquito bites—detergents that actually repel mosquitoes.
Available as both powder and liquid, these detergents work just like regular ones but add an extra layer of protection against diseases like malaria and dengue.
The idea is to fix the problem with usual creams and sprays, which don't last long.

How it works—and when you can get it

Tests showed that fabrics washed with these detergents saw way fewer mosquito landings.
Professor Javed Nabibaksha Sheikh from IIT Delhi explained that special ingredients in the detergent bond with fabric fibers, affecting both the smell and taste sensors of mosquitoes.
The best part? The repellent effect refreshes every time you wash your clothes.
A patent is already filed, so you might see these on store shelves soon!
