IIT Gandhinagar adds MDes and MTech in Maritime Engineering 2026-27
IIT Gandhinagar is adding two fresh postgraduate options for 2026-27: a Master of Design (MDes) and a Master of Technology (MTech) in Maritime Engineering.
The programs are intended to strengthen systems thinking and collaborative problem-solving, while also addressing gaps in maritime-focused education.
IIT Gandhinagar programs stress multidisciplinary collaboration
The MDes will mix design, engineering, and social sciences to boost creative problem-solving.
The MTech is all about real-world maritime issues (think port infrastructure and rules), which matters a lot for Gujarat's coastal scene.
Both programs fit into IIT Gandhinagar's bigger push toward fields like AI, semiconductors, healthcare tech, and sustainability.
Plus, the institute is teaming up with places like IISc and ISRO for dual degrees that blend classroom learning with hands-on industry experience, something Director Prof. Rajat Moona says will help students tackle real challenges creatively.
