IIT Guwahati creates affordable water treatment system
IIT Guwahati researchers have built a super affordable water purification system that can clean up to 20,000-liter of groundwater every day.
Designed for places struggling with high fluoride and iron—like parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat—it gets the job done for just ₹20 per 1,000-liter.
TL;DR
How it works and future upgrades
This system uses aluminum electrodes in a four-step process to remove most iron and fluoride, runs with minimal supervision, and lasts around 15 years.
After successful field tests in Assam, it's already making a difference in local communities.
Future upgrades might even include renewable energy and smart tech to help more remote areas get safe water easily.
