Microsoft plans in-house AI models by 2027 under Mustafa Suleyman
Technology
Microsoft is gearing up to launch its own advanced AI models by 2027, moving away from relying on OpenAI.
Led by Mustafa Suleyman, the company now plans to build core AI tech in-house, hoping this will make it more independent and ready to power its own apps.
Jacob Andreou to run Copilot
To make this happen, Microsoft has shifted roles internally: Suleyman now leads model development, while former Snap executive Jacob Andreou runs Copilot (Microsoft's AI assistant) for both regular users and businesses.
The goal? Catch up with big names like Google and Meta and become a real contender in the AI space.
