Mira AI outscored emergency doctors in over 500 diagnostic scenarios

Turns out, medical AIs like Mira and Amie are getting pretty good at diagnosing diseases, sometimes even beating real doctors.
Mira was tested using more than 500 emergency department scenarios and scored 87.1% accuracy, better than the doctors' 78.1%.

Controlled settings, AIs fallible, clinicians responsible

But before you trust a robot with your health, keep in mind these tests were run in controlled settings, not real clinics with messy info from patients.
Both AIs still made mistakes sometimes.
Developers say these tools are more like autopilots for doctors, helping out but not taking over. The responsibility for patient care still rests firmly with human clinicians.
