NASA readies Artemis 2 April 2026 Orion Moon flyby
NASA is gearing up for Artemis 2 in April 2026, a mission sending four astronauts farther from Earth than anyone has gone before.
The crew will fly past the Moon aboard Orion, guided from Houston's legendary Mission Control.
It's NASA's first crewed lunar trip since 1972, blending a sense of history with some seriously advanced technology.
Mission control mixes roles and touchscreens
Inside the control center, you'll spot a mix of classic roles and new technology: think touchscreens alongside positions like EECOM (the team that's watched over life support since Apollo 13).
The crew running the show is more diverse than ever, with women often leading key operations.
There's also a dedicated Mission Evaluation Room where engineers troubleshoot and analyze every detail to keep things running smoothly.
