NHAI launches AI to analyze road defects and project reports
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a new artificial intelligence system (AI) that checks project reports for mistakes and analyzes road or highway defects from photos.
The goal is to fix slowdowns and safety issues by making sure everything follows official guidelines.
Right now, only NHAI staff can use it, but soon consultants and contractors will get access too, once data security is sorted.
NHAI AI logged over 50,000 queries
Users can upload project documents or road photos, and the AI compares them against Indian Roads Congress codes to catch problems quickly.
Since its launch, the AI system has received more than 50,000 queries from around 1,100 users.
The system also keeps an eye on construction progress, flags bottlenecks, and suggests what needs attention next, making highway building smoother for everyone involved.
