Periwinkle's new service makes it easy to host at Protocol
Berlin-based Periwinkle just dropped a managed Personal Data Server (PDS) service for anyone running self-hosted social accounts on their own domains using Bluesky's AT Protocol.
You get to control your posts and followers, while Periwinkle quietly handles all the updates, backups, and monitoring in the background.
As founder Charles Blumenthal puts it, the company says it will be the first-to-market fully managed PDS service, so you don't have to mess with server headaches.
Pricing and plans
There's a free plan with 500MB of storage if you're just starting out.
Need more? The Basic plan is $4 a month for five handles and 5GB of storage with real-time backups.
Pro goes up to 25GB at $14 a month, and Team gives you 50GB of storage plus extra perks at $30 a month.
Enterprise folks can reach out for custom options.
What is AT Protocol?
Bluesky's AT Protocol lets your data move easily between apps—think of it as portable social media storage.
Periwinkle stores posts, follows, and profile data on a Personal Data Server (PDS), enabling portability across AT Protocol apps.
Managed hosting
Unlike DIY setups or other alternatives such as Blacksky, Periwinkle provides managed, hands-off hosting.
If you want a custom domain without deep technical work, Periwinkle handles domain setup and server maintenance so you can avoid technical deep-dives.
