Perplexity unveils Secure Intelligence Institute for safer more private AI
Technology
Perplexity just announced the Secure Intelligence Institute (SII), a new research hub focused on making AI safer and more private.
SII is taking on the big challenges around advanced AI systems (think smart agents and models that handle lots of data types) by looking for better ways to keep them secure.
SII names Dr. Ninghui Li director
The institute's research covers everything from cryptography and privacy to building trustworthy machine learning. They're teaming up with universities, too.
One of their first projects, BrowseSafe, is an open-source benchmark and detection model meant to spot harmful content and threats in AI-powered web spaces.
Dr. Ninghui Li, who has a strong background in security and privacy, will lead SII as its first director.
