Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlights UPI at VivaTech Paris
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the stage at VivaTech 2026 in Paris, sharing how India is using tech to make life easier, from digital payments and online education to telemedicine, and smarter farming.
He spotlighted UPI, which now powers half of the world's real-time digital transactions and can even be used in France at spots like the Eiffel Tower.

Modi also talked about the new India-EU free trade agreement and referred to the launch of the "India-France year of innovation," saying these moves will bring Europe and India's tech communities closer together.
He celebrated India's progress in nuclear energy, space, and Digilocker, one of the world's largest digital document wallets, and gave a shoutout to Indian startups for building global partnerships.
France's role through VivaTech as a bridge for collaborative innovation got special mention too.
