Reddit has as many active users as Twitter at 330mn
According to a Global Digital Statshot report by Hootsuite, Reddit now has as many active users as Twitter. Further, according to Alexa, a global website ranking platform that calculates monthly website traffic, Reddit is now the sixth most visited website in the world. It only falls behind Google, YouTube, Facebook, Baidu (Chinese internet giant), and Wikipedia.
Reddit's user base increased over 30% in under six months
Reddit's average monthly active users (MAUs) now stand at 330 million, up from 250 million in November last year. This is an increase of over 30% in less than six months. This puts Reddit at par with Twitter (also 330 million MAUs) in Hootsuite's new global social media platform ranking. Overall, Reddit is at the 11th place behind Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Tumblr.
Users spend more time on Reddit than any other social-platform
Based on monthly website traffic, Alexa also suggests that users spend more time on Reddit per day than on any other social platform. The average user time spent on Reddit daily is 15 minutes 47 seconds, as compared to just over 11 minutes on Facebook and 6 minutes 23 seconds on Twitter. However, this data doesn't factor in the time spent on mobile apps.
Reddit more engaging than porn?
This not only makes Reddit more engaging than Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google, but also porn websites. However, only two porn websites are featured in Alexa's 50 most visited websites on the web: Pornhub with daily average user time spent at 8:26 minutes and Xvideos at 14:09 minutes. Further, the fact that Reddit itself has several pornographic subreddits could be contributing to its traffic.
