Keeping its promise made during the February 14 launch, Xiaomi has started rolling out the Face Unlock feature on the Redmi Note Pro 5 smartphones and surprisingly, much ahead of its proposed time of March end.
With an over-the-air (OTA) update of MIUI 9.2.4, Redmi Note 5 Pro users can avail this feature.
Here's more about MIUI 9 update and the smartphone.
With the MIUI 9, Xiaomi has brought the Face Unlock feature to Note 5 Pro along with other features like Split screen, Mi Drop for file sharing, animated app icons and additional system stability improvements.
While most of the MIUI 9 features will come to Redmi Note 5 devices as well, the Face Unlock feature remains a Note 5 Pro exclusive for now.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro, globally debuting the Snapdragon 636 processor, features a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display with a unibody metal design, a massive 4,000mAh battery with 64GB internal storage and 4GB/6GB RAM options.
On the rear, you get a dual camera setup with 12-MP and 5-MP sensors while the front shooter being a 20-MP camera with LED flash and support for 1080p video recording.
Xiaomi claims the first sell-out of the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro as "the biggest sale ever in the history of India," selling over 3,00,000 smartphones in under 3 minutes.
