Roscosmos may permanently seal PrK module on ISS after leaks
Russia's space agency Roscosmos may be planning to seal off its PrK module on the International Space Station after battling stubborn air leaks since 2019.
Despite several repair attempts, the leak only got worse.
By 2024, the ISS was losing a little over 0.91kg of air a day from this one spot.
NASA astronauts sheltered in SpaceX Dragon
Earlier this month, NASA had its astronauts take shelter in the SpaceX Dragon capsule when Russia suggested a risky fix that involved cutting a structural bracket, a move NASA wasn't comfortable with.
Now, instead of risky repairs, Roscosmos may be planning to permanently close off the PrK module to isolate the leak itself from the rest of the space station.
Russian cosmonauts will lose access to that part of the station and future supply missions will have to use different docking ports.
