CES 2018: Sony unveils new 4K HDR TV series

Sony has launched its newest 4K HDR TV family at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year in Las Vegas, USA. This includes its Bravia A8F OLED and the Bravia X900F LCD series. The devices come with an in-built support for Android-tv'>Android TV and the voice-enabled Google Assistant, and features the proprietary 4K HDR processor X1 Extreme. Here's all about it.

The finer details about the newly launched TVs

While the Bravia A8F OLED comes in two models of 65-inch and 55-inch, the Bravia X900F LED series comes in the display sizes of 85-inch, 75-inch, 65-inch, 55-inch, and 49-inch. Both the series sport the Acoustic Surface technology that makes their LED-backlit LCD panels capable of emitting sounds, and have eight million self-illuminating OLED pixels.

The two series also sport three new processor technologies of Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR, object-based HDR remaster, and dual database processing. The devices also feature 4K X-Reality PRO that helps in producing great detailed shots when the content is to be seen via different mediums like over the internet, TV broadcasting, Blu-ray Disc, and DVD.

Meanwhile, Samsung rivals Sony with its 146-inch TV

Besides LG and Panasonic, Sony's biggest competitor at the CES 2018 is Samsung. The company has launched a 146-inch TV called 'The Wall' whose USP is its MicroLED technology that enables the TV to change sizes to fit the user's requirements. According to Samsung, MicroLEDs are smaller than LEDs but are still self-sufficient light sources.
