Facebook allows native sharing of posts to WhatsApp
According to reports, Facebook is testing a new feature that will allow its mobile app users to directly share Facebook posts on WhatsApp. This comes after several beta users reported to have experienced the new feature on their Facebook app. However, no official confirmation has been received from either Facebook or WhatsApp regarding the same.
This is how the feature works
When you tap on the "Share" button under any post on the Facebook app, you are provided with two options: Share Now and Write Post. Beta users are also seeing a third option on clicking the "Share" button: Send in WhatsApp. Selecting this option from the menu will generate a link which could be directly shared with any WhatsApp contact.
Facebook's prime target is businesses
Facebook is reportedly targeting businesses with the new feature. It will allow brands and users to easily share product posts featured on Facebook's Marketplace to WhatsApp, thereby helping businesses expand their reach.
Even WhatsApp adding new business-centric features
WhatsApp for Business will soon add "Chat Filters" to its interface to help Business accounts search messages quickly. To access these filters, Business account admins will have to simply tap on the search bar placed inside the chats. The feature aims to ensure timely communication with customers and ultimately better reach for businesses. It will first roll out on Android.
