Spotify's new shuffle mode reduces song repeats
Spotify just rolled out a new shuffle mode that actually tries to keep your playlists fresh—fewer repeats of the same song.
Plus, there's a beta feature for iOS users: AI-powered audiobook recaps that help you jump back into long stories without re-listening from the start.
How to access the new shuffle
Premium users get the new shuffle by default, which picks playlist orders with the most variety and fewest repeats.
Not vibing with it? You can easily switch back to standard Smart Shuffle in Settings > Playback.
Also, both free and paid users can now pick any song to play next—no need to reshuffle your queue.
AI recaps for audiobooks
After about 15-20 minutes of listening, Spotify's AI will summarize what you've heard so far.
These recaps update as you go, making it way easier to keep up with longer audiobooks or pick up where you left off—without any privacy worries, since summaries don't use original narration or personal data.
