Study finds Samoyeds, Shiba Inus sing on pitch, adjust howls
Technology
Turns out, some dogs really can sing along with music!
A new study found that a small group of Samoyeds and Shiba Inus were able to sing on pitch and adjust their howling to music, hinting at a cool evolutionary link between dogs and music, possibly inherited from their wolf ancestors who howl together to sound like a bigger pack.
Seoul researchers find dogs detect pitch
Researchers from Seoul National University discovered that dogs notice changes in pitch in both animal and human sounds, which helps them adjust their own howls when they hear music.
Another team in Australia is now looking into whether dogs do this on purpose, which could mean our furry friends are even better communicators than we realized.
