UIDAI's new Aadhaar app makes sharing your info safer and easier
Technology
UIDAI is testing a new Aadhaar app that puts you in control of what data you share, especially in public places.
The app, discussed by UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar and now on app stores, uses a special QR code so you can verify your identity offline—no internet or physical copy needed.
You only share the details you want, keeping the rest private. A full launch is planned after more testing.
What's cool about it?
The app lets you pick what info to share—like just your age if that's all that's needed—thanks to UIDAI's secure digital signature.
This means less risk of forgery and no need to hand over photocopies at hotels or other spots.
With new rules encouraging digital checks, it represents a move toward enhanced privacy and convenience.
