Want stronger bones? Drink tea instead of coffee, suggests study
A new study suggests that swapping coffee for tea could give your bones a small boost.
Researchers tracked nearly 9,700 older women for a decade and found that regular tea drinkers had slightly better hip bone density than those who skipped tea.
Tea's antioxidants may help, but don't ditch the basics
The benefit likely comes from catechins—plant compounds in tea that might help keep bones strong.
But before you start brewing nonstop, the researchers warn not to overhype these results or forget essentials like exercise and getting enough calcium and vitamin D.
The study authors urge caution, as other factors can play a role too.
Coffee lovers: moderation matters
If you're into heavy coffee (five or more cups daily), the study linked it with lower bone density in key areas.
So if bone health's on your mind, maybe consider mixing in some tea now and then.
