Zoho's Sridhar Vembu urges verbal passwords amid AI voice scams
Technology
AI voice scams are getting trickier, with criminals now able to mimic voices of people you know.
Zoho Chief Scientist Sridhar Vembu is urging families to use "verbal passwords" (basically, a secret phrase only you and your loved ones know) to help spot fake calls.
His advice comes after someone shared a close call with an impersonation scam online.
X user avoided voice impersonation scam
A user on X almost got fooled by a scammer who sounded just like his wife and asked for a credit card to pay for gas.
Luckily, he noticed something was off and double-checked: turns out his wife was safe at home.
It's a reminder to stay alert and maybe start using those verbal passwords.
