Ajit Chandila is a former cricketer and off-spin bowler from Punjab, Haryana who has played for the Rajasthan Royals. Chandila was born on December 5, 1983, in Faridabad. The right-handed former batsman played for Rajasthan Royals until the year 2013. He had gained recognition in domestic cricket for his performance in the Air India North Zone cricket team. In 2010, Chandila made his first-class debut in cricket for Haryana. In 2011, Delhi Daredevils signed him which kick-started his career in IPL. In April 2012, Chandila made his debut in IPL in Jaipur. He also rejected Rajasthan Royals in 2012 which helped him to earn the spotlight as he took a hat trick in the fifth season of IPL. He is the seventh bowler to take a hat trick in IPL history. However, Chandila was arrested along with two other players - Ankeet Chavan and Sreesanth on May 16, 2013, for allegedly spot-fixing during IPL 6. Following this, Air India immediately suspended him and BCCI gave him a life ban from cricket in January 2016.
