In a major development, Bihar have recorded the highest-ever team total in List A cricket. They hammered a staggering 574/6 during their opening 2025/26 Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi on Wednesday. Electing to bat first, Bihar broke Tamil Nadu's previous record of 506/2 against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022. Notably, Vaibhav Suryavanshi shattered several records with his knock of 190 (84).

Bihar's record-breaking innings was powered by three centuries. Suryavanshi tormented the Arunachal Pradesh bowling attack with a stunning 190 runs off just 84 balls. He hit 15 sixes and 16 fours in the process. Notably, the 14-year-old also became the youngest centurion in List A history. Fastest List A ton by an Indian
Suryavanshi's 36-ball century became the second-fastest ever by an Indian batter in List A cricket. He closed in on Punjab batter Anmolpreet Singh, who scored a 35-ball ton against Arunachal last season. However, Suryavanshi's own teammate, Sakibul Gani (32 balls), surpassed the two later in the match. The latter now has the fastest List A century by an Indian.

Suryavanshi raced to his 150 off just 59 balls, surpassing legend de Villiers's previous record of 64 balls. The former now has the second-most sixes by an Indian in a List A innings. This puts him behind only Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad (16 each). According to ESPNcricinfo, Suryavanshi also became the youngest player to hammer a century in men's List A cricket, at 14 years and 272 days.
