CoA to SC: Change the procedure of appointing selection panel
The Committee of Administrators has reached out to the Supreme Court to change the procedure of appointing the selection panel, which is currently being handled by BCCI. According to reports, CoA wants SC to grant the power to select selectors to a new committee along the lines of the CAC. A lot depends on whether SC will accept the amended draft constitution or not.
Will BCCI lose another set of power?
The BCCI electing selectors could soon become a thing of the past if SC accepts CoA's suggestion and gives the power to a new committee. As of now, the general body of the BCCI elects the selection committee at every Annual General Meeting. Justice Lodha Committee had not suggested any change in the procedure of appointment of the selection committee.
Two-year tenure for selection panel on the cards!
The CoA wants the Supreme Court to appoint a professional committee that constitutes of ex-cricketers. It also wants the selection committee to be appointed for 2 years. Further, it wants the committee to have the power to appoint coaches and support staff.
