Deepti Sharma, the Indian all-rounder, has achieved a rare feat in Women's One Day Internationals (ODIs) during the ongoing Women's World Cup 2025. She became only the fourth player to score over 2,000 runs and take more than 150 wickets in this format. Deepti achieved this milestone while playing against England on October 19 at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

With this achievement, Deepti has joined an elite group of players that includes Australia's Ellyse Perry, West Indies's Stafanie Taylor, and South Africa's Marizanne Kapp. Perry leads the list with 4,414 runs and 166 wickets in ODIs. Taylor follows her with 5,873 runs and 155 wickets while Kapp has 3,397 runs and 172 wickets to her name in Women's ODIs.

A look at her WODI career

Deepti made her ODI debut for India in 2014 against South Africa. Since then, she has played 117 matches and bowled in 116 innings, taking 153 wickets at an economy rate of 4.33. In addition to her bowling prowess, the 28-year-old all-rounder has also scored an impressive total of 2,611 runs from those same ODI innings. This includes 18 50-plus scores, including a ton.

Record

Second Indian bowler with this feat

In addition to her recent milestone, Deepti has also become the second Indian bowler after Jhulan Goswami to take more than 150 wickets in WODIs. Goswami still holds the record for most wickets in women's ODIs with a staggering 255 wickets from 203 innings. This further highlights Deepti's impressive career and contribution to Indian women's cricket.

Despite India's narrow four-run defeat in the aforementioned game against England, Deepti starred with her all-round performance. The 28-year-old cricketer took four wickets and scored a half-century during the match, becoming only the fifth player in the tournament's 52-year history to achieve this rare double. She is also the first player to do so against England in a Women's World Cup match.
