    19-year-old cricketer Shubman Gill was named as a replacement for the suspended cricketer, KL Rahul by BCCI. The talented youngster will be drafted into the Indian cricket team squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. Gill, who was part of the victorious Indian U-19 World Cup team in 2018, has made giant strides as a cricketer. Here's more on him.

    Gill played a solid hand in the U-19 World Cup

    Shubman Gill finished as the highest run-scorer for India in the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2018. The opening batsman hit 372 runs in six matches. He finished as the second highest run-scorer in the tournament. Gill amassed one hundred and three fifties to contribute immensely in India's triumph. He was touted to be a future India player and praised for his heroics.

    Gill was backed by Kolkata Knight Riders next

    Seeing his impact in the U-19 World Cup, Indian Premier League franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders bought the youngster alongside team members Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Gill showed his nerves and gave a solid account of himself in the matches he played. In 13 matches, the Punjab player amassed 203 runs for KKR. The franchise's trust in young guns had a massive impact.

    Gill has shown his brilliance in the Ranji Trophy

    Gill has already notched 728 runs in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He is averaging 104.00 in five matches. He made his debut for Punjab back in 2017. The youngster bagged his highest score of 268 against Tamil Nadu last month. This was followed by 148 against Hyderabad. In nine first class career matches, Gill has scored 1,089 runs at an average of 77.78.

    A valuable player in List A matches as well

    The teenager was picked for the India A team and he grabbed the chance with both hands. He has played a solid hand in the tours. He also showed his prowess in the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy and bagged a century for India C. He has scored 1,529 runs in 36 List A career matches. The player has managed four hundreds till now.

    Gill is another future star for Indian cricket

    The future of Indian cricket looks strong. Gill is another promising player in the ranks. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw and Khaleel Ahmed have already made grounds. Gill is expected to follow them quickly.
