India beat Windies in second ODI: List of records broken

What's the story

India got the job done versus West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday in Ahmedabad. Batting first, India managed 237/9 in 50 overs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 64 as KL Rahul managed 49. Odean Smith (2/29) was terrific. In response, WI faltered with the bat to surrender the match (193/10). India have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

How did the match pan out?

India were reduced to 43/3 before KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav added a 91-run stand for the fourth wicket. Rahul played well for his 49 before being run out. Surya built another partnership alongside Washington Sundar before Deepak Hooda (29) chipped in. In response, Prasidh Krishna claimed vital scalps to hurt WI. From 76/5, WI got close towards the 200-run mark but fell short.

Rahul scored a 48-ball 49, slamming four fours and two sixes. As per statistician Umang Pabari, Rahul while batting at No.4/No.5 at home in ODIs, has scores of 80, 62*, 108, 7, and 49 at 76.50. He has a strike rate of 111.27. In 14 home ODIs, Rahul has amassed 607 runs at 46.69. In four matches versus WI, he has 234 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav does well for India

Surya scored 64 from 83 deliveries, hitting five fours. He came in at a crucial stage (43/3) before playing a mature knock. Playing his sixth ODI, Surya slammed his second half-century. He has 261 runs at 65.25. This is also his best score in ODIs. It was his maiden fifty versus the Windies (average 98.00).

India and West Indies have played 135 ODI matches to date. The visiting team has managed to win 63 games. India have pocketed 66 victories. Two games ended in a tie while four encounters did not have a result. India have won six out of their last seven ODIs against West Indies.
