    The Indian cricket team beat West Indies to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series on Friday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Batting first, India managed 186/5 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant made 52 runs each. Roston Chase claimed three wickets. In response, WI failed to chase down the target, despite an amazing effort by Rovman Powell.

    How did the match pan out?

    India lost Ishan Kishan early on, who was dismissed for two. Kohli joined hands with Rohit Sharma and the two shared a crucial 49-run stand for the second wicket. Moments later, Suryakumar Yadav departed before the likes of Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer added a valiant 76-run stand. In response, WI were 59/2 before they pulled it close. However, India were triumphant.

    Kohli slams his 30th T20I fifty

    Kohli scored a superb 52 for India, facing 41 balls. He smashed seven fours and a six. He has raced to 3,296 runs at 51.50. He slammed his 30th T20I fifty, equaling Rohit's tally. Kohli hit seven fours and a six. Kohli has 570 runs versus WI at 57.00. He smashed his sixth fifty against the visitors.

    Pant registers his third T20I fifty

    Rishabh Pant slammed an unbeaten 52 from 28 balls. He smashed seven fours and a six. Pant hit his third T20I fifty. He has raced to 683 runs at 24.39. Pant now has 282 runs versus WI. He hit his third T20I fifty.

    Pooran and Powell achieve this mark

    Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell added 100 runs against India for the third wicket. This is the third instance when an WI pair has slammed a century-plus stand against India. Evin Lewis and J Charles had shared a 126-run stand in Lauderhill, 2016. Lewis and Marlon Samuels shared a 112-run stand in Kingston, 2017. Pooran and Powell have now joined the list.

    Pooran and Powell slam fifties

    Nicholas Pooran chipped in with a crucial knock. He looked good and got some much-needed boundaries. The southpaw smashed his seventh T20I fifty and a second one versus India. He hit five fours and three sixes at 151.22. Pooran has raced to 1,132 runs in T20Is. Meanwhile, Rovman Powell slammed his third fifty. He has raced to 594 runs at 24.75.

    India extend the H2H record

    The two teams have faced each other on 19 occasions in T20Is to date. India have won 12 matches. West Indies have pocketed six matches. One match didn't have a result. Notably, India have won 10 of the last 11 T20Is versus WI.
