India thrash arch-rivals Pakistan: Here are the records broken

India thrashed Pakistan in match number 22 of the ICC World Cup 2019 at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday. This was the seventh successive win for India against Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup. Batting first, India rode on a brilliant century by Rohit Sharma. Pakistan collapsed in their chase as they lost by 89-runs (D/L). Here is the list of records broken.

Rohit slams third career World Cup century

Rohit scored a majestic 140-run knock off 113 balls. His innings was laced with 14 fours and three sixes at a rate of 123.89. This was Rohit's third World Cup career century and a second in CWC 19. He became the second player after Joe Root to score two tons in the ongoing World Cup. Rohit hit third consecutive 50+ score in 2019 WC.

Rohit scripts a host of records

Rohit now has 319 runs in CWC 19 and is the second highest run-scorer after Aaron Finch (343). The opening batsman amassed his 24th career ODI ton. The senior cricketer also amassed his third ODI century this year. He became the first Indian to surpass the 800-run mark in 2019 (875). He is also the second highest ODI run-scorer this year after Finch (977).

A look at Rohit's tryst with records

Rohit now has the joint-most ODI centuries for India in England (4). He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar (3). Rohit slammed his century in 85 balls. This was the fifth fastest ton for India in CWC. Virender Sehwag (81 balls against Bermuda in 2007) holds the record. Rohit registered the second highest score against Pakistan in World Cup. Andrew Symonds (143* in 2003) holds the record.

Rohit and Team India script records at Old Trafford

Rohit now has 649 World Cup runs for India. He surpassed MS Dhoni's feat of 569 runs. The Mumbaikar became the first Indian to hit an ODI century at Old Trafford. India's 336/5 is now the highest ODI score at this venue. This was also India's sixth highest World Cup score. India amassed their second score of 300-plus in CWC 19.

    Contrasting records for the arch-rivals

Team India scripted its highest score against Pakistan in the World Cup. This was India's third successive ODI win against Sarfaraz Ahmed's men. Pakistan have now conceded 300-plus totals against teams for the eighth time in nine previous ODI innings.

Kohli fastest to 11,000 ODI runs

Kohli surpassed the 11,000-run mark in ODIs. He became the fastest to 11,000 ODI runs (222 innings). The 30-year-old became the ninth batsman in ODI history to achieve this mark. Kohli also became the third Indian cricketer to get past this mark. Only Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) and Sourav Ganguly (11,221) have more runs for India in ODIs.

Kohli scripts a heap of feats

How did the match pan out?

India were sent into bat by Pakistan and the decision backfired. Rohit and Rahul were terrific upfront for the Men in Blue. They laid a strong foundation. Kohli and Rohit added a solid stand and gave India the momentum. Amir bowled well for Pakistan. In reply, Pakistan were 117/1 at one stage, but from there on they collapsed to hand India a famous win.
