2017 IPL- Which records got broken this season?

The past seven weeks of the Indian Premier League saw batsmen and bowlers keeping each other on their toes. While we got to see some fire cracking innings by batsmen, the bowlers also kept us entertained with amazing spells. Let us have a look at some individual records which got broken in the tenth season of the cricketing extravaganza.

    The T20 title winning machine

Rohit Sharma became the first Indian player to win seven T20 titles after winning the 2017 IPL. Sharma has won four IPL titles (3 with Mumbai Indians, 1 with Deccan Chargers) and one each of T20 World Cup (2007), Asia Cup T20 (2016) and Champions League T20 (2013). MS Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin and Suresh Raina have all been part of six T20 triumphs.

    Seven IPL finals for Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the first player to play in seven of the ten IPL finals. His first six have came during his run with Chennai Super Kings, while the seventh came with Rising Pune Supergiant. He has won two of these seven finals.

Fastest half century of the IPL

After webbing many batsmen through his bowling, Sunil Narine became a nightmare for the bowlers when he was promoted up the batting order by KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir. Narine went on to score the fastest half century in the history of IPL, as he scored 50 runs in 15 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Yusuf Pathan had achieved this feat in 2014.

10K runs for the boss of T20 cricket

Chris Gayle became the first player to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved the feat while playing for 18 different teams, and has hit 18 centuries. Interestingly, 74.8 per cent of the runs he has scored have come in the form of boundaries.

    Orange cap and 4,000 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner became the first overseas player and fifth overall to reach the 4000-run mark in the Indian Premier League. Achieving the feat in his 114th innings, he is the fastest player to reach the mark. Warner was the "Orange Cap" winner at the 2017 IPL after he scored 641 runs in 14 matches, including a century.

Second consecutive purple cap for Bhuvneshwar Kumar

After picking up 26 wickets this year, Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the first bowler to win the Purple Cap two times in a row. Last season , he had picked up 23 wickets in 17 matches.

    A day of hat-tricks

Samuel Badree and Andrew Tye both picked up hat-tricks on the same day in the 2017 IPL. Both were playing their first match of the tournament. Playing for RCB, Badree picked up three wickets to register the first hat-trick of 2017 IPL. In the second match same day, Tye not only got a hat-trick, but also got the first five-wicket haul 2017 IPL.

    A hat-trick and a maiden for Unadkat

Rising Pune Supergiant's Jaydev Unadkat became the first bowler to bowl a triple-wicket maiden as he picked up the third hat-trick of this year's IPL. His 5/30 from four overs is also his best bowling figures in T20.
