DC vs RR: Match preview, head-to-head records and pitch report

Delhi Capitals will look to sign off at home with a bang when they take on Rajasthan Royals in match number 53 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. DC have already qualified for the play-offs. Meanwhile, RR will look to win and keep their slim chances alive. There is everything to play for. Here is the detailed match preview.

Head-to-head meetings between the two sides

The teams have faced each other on 19 occasions in the IPL. RR have won 11 matches. DC have pocketed six on the other hand. In the previous meeting this season, DC won the match by six wickets.

DC's hopes pinned on their top order

DC's middle order can be vulnerable and in the last match they suffered badly to be all out for 99. Therefore, the onus lies on the top order to score the bulk of runs. A lot will revolve around the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer in particular. Rishabh Pant has been inconsistent and will need to produce a match-winning innings.

With Rabada gone, DC will look up to Boult

With Kagiso Rabada ruled out for the rest of the season, all eyes will be on his direct replacement Trent Boult. The Kiwi international is experienced and brings aplenty on offer. The likes of Axar Patel and Amit Mishra need to produce the goods.

RR need collective approach with the bat

RR gave a solid account of themselves in the previous encounter against RCB, but they were unlucky with the match not getting completed due to rain. RR have 11 points and need a win. They will look up to the services of Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson in particular. One would want to see RR's middle order come strong and enhance their chances.

RR will need a strong show with the ball

RR have variety in bowling and Shreyas Gopal is their best bet. The spinner has been superb in terms of being consistent and taking wickets. Oshane Thomas and Varun Aaron will hope to be among the wickets. Their partnership is key with the new ball.

Pitch report, timing and TV listing

The pitch at the Kotla will be on the slower side. So spinners will have a role to play. Batsmen need to play sensibly and try to exploit at the death. Strong foundations will be the key here. The match is set to start at 4:00 PM IST. One can watch the match on the Star Sports Network and stream the same on Hotstar.
