IPL 2021: SRH bowl out PBKS for 120
Sunrisers Hyderabad dished out a commendable bowling performance to restrict Punjab Kings to 120/10 in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season on Wednesday. SRH bowlers exploited the Chepauk pitch well to put PBKS under the mat. It was a challenging time for PBKS batsmen, who are playing their first game this season in Chennai. Here's more.
SRH dominate the PP overs
PBKS were slow to start with and managed a paltry 32 runs for the loss of one wicket in the powerplay overs. In the fourth over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got the big wicket of KL Rahul. From there on, SRH kept Punjab under the wraps as the batting side struggled to accelerate. Bhuvi was on song, ending the PP overs with figures of 3-0-1-16.
Rashid Khan excellent for SRH once again
Rashid Khan was terrific with the ball for a fourth consecutive game. The youngster was unplayable as the likes of Chris Gayle and Moises Henriques failed to pick his deliveries. Rashid trapped Gayle lbw and was once again economical. Rashid has enjoyed bowling in Chennai and his spells read: 2/24, 2/18, 0/22, and 1/17. His economy rate of 5.06 this season stands out.
PBKS batsmen fail to apply themselves
It was a poor batting display by the PBKS batsmen. Rahul tried to break the shackles on a pitch where timing is key. Mayank Agarwal too failed to read a slower ball and got dismissed. Gayle failed to read Rashid's slider before Henriques played a nothing shot and was stumped. PBKS needed someone to bat deep and long but that wasn't witnessed.
Shahrukh Khan a bright prospect, Pooran disappoints
PBKS batsman Shahrukh Khan has been pretty impressive this season. Making his debut in IPL 2021, Shahrukh has shown character in difficult situations for his side. The 25-year-old has got scores of 6*, 47, 15*, and 22. He looks like an able finisher for Punjab. On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran registered his third duck in four innings. He has nine runs in total.
Khaleel claims three wickets for PBKS
Khaleel Ahmed claimed three wickets for SRH. The left-arm pacer made use of his variations and slower balls. Notably, he took the pace off and got all his wickets with slower balls. The key wicket of Shahrukh came at a crucial juncture.
