What's the story

The inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) revamped their squad after finishing seventh during the previous edition of the tournament. Rajasthan went into the 2022 auction with Rs. 62 crore purse. They retained three players before the auction - Sanju Samson (Rs. 14 crore), Jos Buttler (Rs. 10 crore), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rs. 4 crore). Here we decode Rajasthan's squad.

The first player Rajasthan bought on board was R Ashwin (Rs. 5 crore). Rajasthan spent Rs. 8 crore to acquire Trent Boult. They roped in swashbuckling Windies cricketer Shimron Hetmyer for Rs. 8.5 crore and shelled out Rs. 7.75 crore for Devdutt Padikkal. Rajasthan's biggest purchase on Saturday was Prasidh Krishna (Rs. 10 crore). They roped in Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs. 6.50 crore.

Rajasthan's squad looks balanced

Rajasthan Royals squad looks balanced on the paper. Boult and Ashwin are expected to lead Rajasthan's bowling. Padikkal will open the innings alongside Buttler, while Hetmyer could be given the role of a finisher. They have Samson and Riyan Parag in the batting order and have found a genuine pace bowler in Krishna. Chahal will add depth to their spin bowling.
