Here's what Jasprit Bumrah said about his new weapon
  • Jasprit Bumrah has already been terrorizing batsmen in the limited-overs format, courtesy his lethal yorkers.

However, the just-concluded Test series against West Indies saw him come up with a new weapon, the out-swinger, which destroyed the hosts' batting order.

While it was probably the first time he had used it in his career, here's what he said on the usage of the out-swinger.

  • Speaking on the use of out-swingers of late, Bumrah said that he had it for a long time. However, he did not wish to use it due to lack of confidence.

Nonetheless, it was in England where he got the confidence of swinging it with the Dukes ball.

"I got more and more confident as I played more and more Test cricket," said Bumrah.

  • Bumrah explained that in the limited-overs format, the ball does not tend to swing for a long time.

However, in Tests, he worked on the out-swingers in England, especially against the Counties during the warm-up matches.

" You can't use everything in one match. You just try to assess the conditions on the given day and see what could work," explained Bumrah.

  • Bumrah has made a name for himself in the limited-overs format.

While he is making an impact in Tests of late, he has revealed that he always wanted to be a complete cricketer, as he looks to perform in the format in India as well.

"I'm learning from the experience that I've gained by playing in South Africa, England, Australia, and Windies," he reckoned.

  • No worries

  • Speaking further ahead of his maiden Test in India, Bumrah assured that the Indian conditions are not alienated to him.

"I assess the conditions, we will discuss with the team management and the senior players, who have played a lot of cricket over here, as to what works, what doesn't work, so will take everything into consideration and see how it goes," he asserted.

"I feel happy that I am playing at this level"

  • "So few people in the world get such an opportunity. At that moment I feel grateful, I feel happy that I am playing at this level, small frustrations here and there will happen, but just be happy with the opportunity," concluded Bumrah.

  • Bumrah's recent form of late, claiming 13 wickets in two Tests in the Caribbean, has been phenomenal, as he looks to make a similar impact against Proteas in the upcoming Test series.

As for his out-swingers, the author believes that he could use them in India as well, especially with the new ball, as the SG Test balls tend to swing when fresh.
